Retrieving delete files
Hi - I accidentally used F8 delete and lost half of my pictures. Half were named, and half were numbered. Is there any way I can retrieve them please? I am using v 7.6a 32 bit (16.12.2010)

I haven't used any undelete software in a while since i've made my backups more regularly. If you want to stay in TC maybe you can try back2life for TC. (I don't know if this is a good tool..)

Re: Retrieving delete files
- Context menu of the [F8 Delete] buttonjoodyanne wrote: used F8 delete and lost half of my pictures.
- Select "Open" (will show recycle Bin in Explorer)
- Mark the file you want to restore
- "Restore the selected Items"
Should work without any problem in case you did not disable recyle bin.
If recycle bin shows none of your deleted files (may be you used Shift to delete them permanently):
http://www.piriform.com/recuva/builds (portable version!)
Download and unpack this to a different drive than the one which holds your deleted files (it's important to change as less as possible on this drive!)
and try the recovery options of recuva.

It's just a one off thing really. I just wondered where the deleted files went - they are not in the recycle bin.silencer wrote:I haven't used any undelete software in a while since i've made my backups more regularly. This did not work for me - I didnt disable the recycle bin and I didnt use shift to delete them permanently - I just pressed F8 within Total Commander. The documents (well pictures actually) were in my removable drive at the time.- Context menu of the [F8 Delete] button

- Mark the file you want to restore
- "Restore the selected Items"

And that's the issue here. Usually, removable drives don't have a Recycle Bin, so when you delete something from them, it's deleted permanently. There are some exceptions (e.g. USB harddrives), but you can consider this as a rule. Right now, the only way to recover those files from your removable drive is to try some undelete program (like Recuva or anything else), but don't expect miracles.joodyanne wrote:The documents (well pictures actually) were in my removable drive at the time.

Re: Retrieving delete files
I agree. I "undo delete" function will be really nice.
