Feature Request: Edit command/search history from within UI

Post by *robinsiebler »

I'm tired of having to close TC and launch a text editor in order to edit the command, search, rename, etc. histories. There are a few entries that I use consistently (and keep) and lots of transient entries that simply clutter everything.

It would be nice if I could edit these entries from within the Configuration dialog. TC has advanced to the point where you shouldn't have to edit the INI file directly (especially considering how big and complex the INI file can be).

As an alternative, someone could write a helper app that performs the above functions...

As an aside, when I click 'Change settings files directly', I almost always have to do it twice because wcx_ftp.ini is the only file loaded into the editor.

Hello!
• Strange, I never noticed this problem. I get always both INI files, either with Win 98SE or under Win XP...
• Users even asked for separated commands to open one file only, since the most times one is useless.
¤ Please, tell us what OS are you using ?
Maybe someone else had that?

  Kind regards,
Clo

I'm using Win2k and I am using ConTEXT instead of Notepad (Context is a tabbed programmer's editor/notepad replacement).

So... it's a problem of ConTEXT (I've tried it).
I don't know why but it behaves just this way :-(

:)   Hi!
• Maybe because it's a tabbed editor?
• That couldn't occur with a multi-window editor :?:

I've used MANY different notepad-replace editors so far and I had never had such effect before (as described by you). After installing ConTEXT - it happend for the first time so that's why I suppose the problem is in it.

I've tested it on WinXP Pro, now.

Ok, this is completely off topic, but in your opinion, which is the best FREE tabbed programmer's editor?

SciTE, it's highly customizable, Open Source, and has tons of features (including scripting, though this is maintained by a user, not the original author of the app!).
