TC <=8.0 Lister scrolling interferes with AlwaysMouseWhee

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

TC <=8.0 Lister scrolling interferes with AlwaysMouseWhee

Post by *longuist »

I use a small tool called AlwaysMouseWheel (http://www.softwareok.com/?seite=Microsoft/AlwaysMouseWheel) It provides Mousewheel-functionality in unfocused windows.
Scrolling in Lister with mousewheel is blocked when the program is active, even with focus on lister.
Maybe its not listers "fault", but it seems to be the only window with problems for me. (TC itself works flawlessly)
Hope its ok to report this finding here even if its no direct bug of TC.
kind regards
m

(p.s. i informed the author of amw too)

I'm using KatMouse for similar needs and scrolling works fine there. And, it allows to add exceptions to ignore some windows. Maybe your tool supports exceptions too?

Unfortunately the tool does not feature an ignore option. It is very basic (which i like) and sports scrolling on task bar to change volume which i like very much.
I must admit that i haven't looked intensive for an alternative, so thank you for the tip, MVV !
The more i read about such programs i do realize there will always be programs which will not cooperate.
Even with Katmouse, when Lister is active and hovering on TC, both windows are scrolled.
This leads to the guess that the Lister is very strong in binding mouse-input to itself.
I will try more programs alike when i have the time or give it up for good :)

I noticed that, but it seems to be a Delphi's VCL issue, however I've noticed it only today, so it isn't a big problem.

TC just relies on the standard mouse scroll messages. I'm handling them myself, so apparently your tool isn't sending the correct messages.

I can confirm that with default setting of KatMouse Lister scrolls when scrolling TC's file panels. This applies to TC 8.0 32 bit and TC 7.57a, but not to TC 8.0 x64.

If I go into KatMouse's setings dialog and:

1. Click the "Classes" tab
2. I drag the the icon to TC's main file panel
3. then I get a window class called TMyListBox
4. If I Double-click on TMyListBox
5. and if I remove the checkmark in "Window has wheel scrolling support ? (Try checked first)"

Then Lister no longer scrolls together with the file panels. This also applies to the Compare By Content window.
