Do these features exist in Total Commander 6.01?

Post by *tmdusr »

1. remembering the directory position like explore does. For example, there are 100 files in a directory, and I scroll to midle of the scrollbar, then I close Total commander or go to another tab, when I re-launch Total commander or change back to the tab, I'd like to see the scrollbar position remains.

2. when I type a directory in the command line, for example: c:\my dir\test, I'd like to see this directory be opened in the current selected pane, not launching a separate explorer windows, which defeats the purpose of using Total commander alone. I do this alot to open a network drive but it is really annoying to open explore every time.

Thanx

As workaround for the TAb switching:

Click at one file at the displayed filelist positition. when you only switch between the Tabs the position will remain until you're back.
For relaunch I think it isn't possible.

For the second question: You can click at the 'current directory' and type the desired path directly. If you like to aktivate with a button there is the command 'cm_editPath' available.

Changing current directory in TC

Post by *IGL »

One solution mentioned above is typing: cd C:\Directory

Another is:
Above filelist and above column labels "Name/Ext/Size" is displayed current path.
Just single click on it will allow you to type new directory.
It probably works only with TC6 and above.
If you need more info just ask.

Edit path---

Post by *Clo »

:)  Hi !
• To edit the path, you must use a TC command, that doesn't work with a single click. You can add in a menu:

Code: Select all

MENUITEM "Sh&ow Path Edit-field", 2912
• Handier: a button in the toolbar, with the same command cm_editpath
 You can get a lot of icons for the buttons etc. from my Web page (button below) >> Menu >>> Total Commander >>> English page

 Kind regards,
Clo

In menu Configuration | Layout
there is "Show Current Directory".
If you have it selected then you can click on Current Directory Bar and type new dir confirmed by enter key.
If you want to have this option disabled - a solution above by Clo is useful. (thanks Clo)
