Bug: Copy file with resume via parallel-cable
Hi, in TC 5.51 copy a file with resume via parallel-cable on LPT ports from one PC to another, has a bug. TC 5.51 simply overwrites the already existing partial file on the another PC. TC simply ignore resume option and overwrite.
Best regards

6.01?

• Though TC uses its FTP-functions when connecting via // port, I'am not quite sure that "Resume" be supported in such a case... Isn't indicated in the Help.
• Did you test under TC 6.01 ? Whether you'ld have the same problem, that'ld mean isn't supported...
- Unfortunately, I can't test currently, my special cable is unavailable...

Yes, resume should work just fine, both in TC 5.51 and TC 6.0x via parallel port. Is there anything special about the file?
- size?
- special attributes like read only?
- name?

Partial size ?

Hello Mr. Ghisler,
• Maybe something too about the partial file size (the part already transfered smaller than 32 KB ) ?
¤ I think to add this feature - which is not quoted - in the Help / Tutorials at the "// Port" section. May I do ?
Best regards,
Claude

The file is an exe file of 61 mb, with packed content (zip). In the first row I have copied around 25 mb, where I stopped the transfer. Later when again wanted to copy from computer A to B, TC 5.51 recognized the similar name from the partial file on B, here I choose "resume", however the file was overwritten. There is only an -a- (archive) attribute on the file.Is there anything special about the file?

I have not tried with TC 6.01 (I don't have that yet)

Give it a try, update to 6.01 is available for free, so don't hesitate to step forward.

Total Commander 5.51 used REST (=restart) and then PUT to resume uploads. Unfortunately some servers seem to ignore the REST command before a PUT, so TC 6.0x now uses the APPE command (=append), which should work with most servers.

What do you mean with this? PUT (or better STOR) and APPE work both with PORT and PASV mode.

The parallel port connection uses the same functions as the FTP connection on the higher levels, just the low level functions are different. Resume does work for me also for parallel port connections. Do you use any bavckground virus scanners which could have prevented TC from re-opening the EXE file?
