Feature request: change the way the lister N and P keys work

Post by *zeflash »

Right now, we need to select multiple files in a folder and do a "view selected files" in order to be able to browse through the files in a folder.

This is a bit painful, why not just do that without needing to select multiple files? When I view a file in a folder, it sounds natural that if I want to view the next file I'll go to the next file of the folder.

Worse, when doing that in an archive, all the files are decompressed first - it would be more efficient to do this each time the user wants to go to the previous or next file.

Thoughts?

I disagree. Why should I have to do a ctrl-A when it's not needed? what's the point of having to hit ctrl-A in the first place? Is there any advantages to it this way? I don't think so.

Also, doing a ctrl-A in an archive makes the whole archive to be decompressed. That's not efficient at all.

If you like it this way, fine, but I'd like to see an option to remove this ctrl-a requirement.

Zeflash is right

:) Hello,

• Isn't handy and it's sometimes risky to select all in order to browse files in Lister. Zeflash is right, and I support his idea. I asked for such a feature to the Author for years already.
* The current behaviour is illogical. I'ld prefer simply mark a file >> F3, then to get Next or Previous one directly, like that works in pic-browsers.

 Best regards
Claude

Risk to delete

It's risky selecting files???
• Whether you press "Del" accidentally, at least you'll have to recover the whole of your files in the Win Bin...
- This occured at home several times.
• Maybe Zeflash means "bothersome" instead "painful" ?
• That could be really painful if an user has a problem at his hand(s). I've this, so I can't use the keyboard a lot.

Alright, if it's just a matter of words ... I said "a bit painful" - while I exactly meant bothersome & illogical.

Now I hope that this request will be heard by the developer.

If so, what if I ONLY want to view several certain files?

If files are marked, browse marked files only.
If no files are marked, browse all files.

Wow, that was hard, I need a break. ;)

I second that request, I just needed that yesterday... even though Imagine works like this even without Lister support (yay!). :)

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

I agree, that sounds like the most logical way to do it.

And if you could make it work like this inside an archive too that would be awesome.

I also miss that feature. Especially with graph files, but not only. For graph files I have a workaround - I just run Irfanview directly (by pressing Enter) instead of using F3. But what about text files? I like Lister (it's fast).

I like idea of Icfu (a good beer too  cheers! hey, this time I am "on you side" :) )
