Hi Bluestar,

I got it now, type of file is now properly displayed if I make a correct UserDB entry. Indeed a readme sounds like a good idea ;-)

Furthermore, I tested if indeed a webid with a topic number would work, but I found that when using e.g #241083 in webid field and use the Visit online site button on the UserDB quickview, it would jump to http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=241083, which renders page unknown, it should be http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?p=241083 (so p iso t)

just a post to say thanks to the author. Excellent.

I did not read whole thread. I saw someone reported an issue with Putty utility. In my case it says there is an upgrade for putty (mine is from 2005) and says there is an update from 2009. I downloaded but the update contains exactly same content.

This is the only weird thing I saw.

Total Updater 0.7.2

Post by *Bluestar »

[face=tahoma]Total Updater v0.7.2 (Stable)

The new version contains a bunch of additional improvements & bugfixes, the Download dialog has also been modified to be more universal (from now on you can set the DL-dir on the Configuration tab) - some languages has been updated as well.

Update is strongly recommended!
(read the changelog for more info...)

 Download | 24-03-2013 | MD5 (exe): ae19a9b2b438cfa8c4ac36c84d2ce57f

Changelog:

* New: Updated Dutch language (thanks to Jaap Kramer)
* New: Updated Lithuanian language (thanks to Dalius Guţauskas (Tichij))
* New: Added new command line parameter "/autostartdl" - by running TU with this parameter, the searching & downloading of updatable items starts automatically
* New: Added hotkey support Alt + Enter, Ctrl + D, Ctrl + Shift + W and Ctrl + Shift + Enter to UserDB dialog too
(Edit dialog, Download file, Visit author site, Open regular site [in order])
* New: You can manually set [Plugins] ForceUseOfFN=True if you'd like to see the plugins filename (without extension) in the list instead of their corrected ProductName
* Change: added 18 new items to the Internal Plugin Database [and modified some existing with additional informations] (thanks to EricB)
* Change: from now on you can set e.g. "19994" as WebID (treated as "viewtopic.php?t=19994"), or "#241083" (treated as "viewtopic.php?p=241083")
* Change: added "Direct download" button to the Infobox, as well as separate "WebID" button for UserDB tab (it is now more uniform)
* Change: the utility is now capable of recognizing the user-specific download directory on Vista and above
* Change: from now on the user can set the Download directory on the "Configuration" tab of the application
* Change: show the path of the items under downloading / finished dl state in the "Download files..." dialog on hovering them
* Change: improved the online package detection algorithm a bit (some code-cleanup has also been performed in its code as well)
* Change: some additional fixes when reading the PE file's "ProductName" field (remove "wcx_", "wlx_" etc prefixes)
* Change: increased the Infobox window's width a bit, so most of the language files strings now fits correctly
* Fixed: faulty online package detection when an item doesn't exists in Internal Plugin Database & UserDB in rare cases
* Fixed: the "Author homepage" popup item in the Download dialog was working correctly only when an UserDB item was filled for a given entry
* Fixed: popup option "Download" and "Visit online site" was disabled in rare cases when multiple items were selected
* Fixed: always save "userdb.ini" besides the main configuration file "TotalUpdater.ini"
* Fixed: rare cases when some item's actual name in the plugin list may show up incorrectly in the list
* Fixed: the actual Infobox entry may not get properly updated on switching between Update / UserDB tabs
* Fixed: the WebID and some other fields may be improperly loaded when clicking on "UserDB" label inside Infobox
* Fixed: tooltips were incorrect for the download buttons inside the Infobox
* Fixed: some other bugs & GUI-related things

Hi EricB, I made some modifications in the code.

From now on if you specify a WebID like "#241083", it is going to be opened with the appropriate ghisler.ch post number, however if you do the same without the "#" sign, the given topic number is going to be opened instead - I think it is now more universal this way. So it should work correctly as of now, I'd be glad if you would confirm it - additional ideas are also welcomed.

@jmwap: Thank you. =) I've tried to reproduce the problem with the "Putty.exe" (and its package, the one that can be found there), but for me they all show up correctly with "Unknown." state in the list.

I guess you were experiencing this problem with the latest version of TU at the given time (0.7.1), though it should be resolved in it, as umbra has also confirmed he can no longer reproduce the problem. Could you please check what is the exact filename of this / these problematic items?

Bluestar

Thanks for the detailed reports EricB, a silent update (revision 2) has just took place, which fixes all the issues regarding WebsiteID's / AuthorURL's containing "#12345" or "12345" etc custom value.

Hi Victorwoo,

How would this be different from browsing the Totalcmd.net site? This site has an extensive list of plugins including descriptions and search capabilities (Google custom search).
Bluestar's tool is currently meant to check your locally installed plugins and see if any update is available. It is also possible to make UserDB entries for plugins or external tools that are not to be found on totalcmd.net and provide hyperlinks to those.
Of course you can browse the internal plugin database (click on the 'xxx plugins in the database' in the header). I can imagine that you would like to be able to directly visit the totalcmd page of such entries. Maybe Bluestar can introduce a hyperlink button also on this form?

Hi EricB,
I think it will be a great awesome practice if a local program provides a plugin system that can browse, install, remove, update plugins like AppStore in iPhone or Extension Manager in Chrome browser., etc.
Thanks!

I think I understand what Total Updater current does. But I think i should be better if Total Updater integrate the "Install New Plugin from Database" feature :)

@ADv:
You're welcome, glad you like it. I've been already thinking on this feature, atm you can reach it if you double-click (or press Alt + Enter) on an item, so its Information dialog opens up.

For future versions - while TU is updating them - it could show each item's actual changelog inside a little box next to the download dialog (with an option to turn this function on / off).

@herman5: It's still on the to-do list of course, planned for the 0.9.x / 1.x series.

@victorwoo: Well, as Lefteous previously suggested in the topic (click here), it could be done in the future, I'm not against the idea. If every core function is fixed & the update of plugins is working as well, I could transform TU to a plugin-store with 'some' modification (though it would need some server side changes too).
