[UTILITIES] 4 New / Updated utilities
Hi all.
Here are 4 images of the utilities' main screens as well as links to get the ZIPs of the programs. All are "portable" bi lingual (French and English) and all are (as usual) absolutely free.
All "portable" means that nothing modified anywhere on your PC except in the program's folder, and no installation is needed.
---------------
CopyToTabs v. 9.0.0.0 (A very old published program)
Copies a LIST of files into a LIST of folders. Copy projects can be saved/restored from disk.

CopyToTabs & Dir_Copy: Very inconvenient interface, one can't see the whole dialog window. Changing the window size does not help: controls are moving and nestling up to the window edge. Scrollbars don't disappear although they have to. Finally, repulsive "parrot-like" interface (too many colors).
Icon To File: App is launching but not showing. It stands in the task bar with no visible window.
Win7x64.

Vochomurka,
Thanks for trying my programs.
>> CopyToTabs & Dir_Copy: Very inconvenient interface
It is true that there are "problems". I added so many features, that taking care of the UI got too time consuming. Since the programs use "projects", the UI is not that important.
>> Icon To File: App is launching but not showing
Never happened here on 5 computers. I develop and use XP SP3. However, it is intended to be used by passing the EXE as a command line. Try it on TC's button-bar.
In general, I develop programs for functionality I found nowhere on the internet. I spend a LOT of time developing and improving my programs, and they are all absolutely free. You do not have to use them...
If you find any program that does their functionality, anywhere on the internet, I'd be delighted to try it. '-)

Do they include one with my configuration (marked with red in my first post)?Never happened here on 5 computers
What are command line parameters? No help file is found either into the zip or in your post. However, it is intended to be used by passing the EXE as a command line
Nothing changes.Try it on TC's button-bar
My script is similar (but not equal) to your CopyToTabs utility. If you find any program that does their functionality, anywhere on the internet, I'd be delighted to try it
Concerning Icon To File: many icon managers (Axialis Icon Workshop) can do almost the same.
But anyway, thank you for your job.

Vochomurka,
>> Do they include one with my configuration
Yes. (Desktop)
>> What are command line parameters?
The full path of the EXE, HTML, JPG, DOC etc. file.
>> Help:
Click the "?" at the top right. If you're lucky a help text will pop up... In one of the two supported languages.
>> My script is similar
It is not a stand alone program, and requires the meta-executable...
>> Icon To File: many icon managers
I never claimed it is a unique program. It is useful in that it puts the icon in the pointed-to TC folder. This is what I needed at the time.

Icon To File: I've created the button calling EG_Ico2File.exe with the %P%N parameter. After positioning the cursor on any file (*.html or *.exe with embedded icons) and pressing the button nothing appears. The app still resides in the task bar, still with no window. Where icons have to be created?
Added
The EG_Ico2File.ini is created near the EG_Ico2File.exe.

>> %P%N
This program responds well to this TC sent parameter. At least on my XP SP3.
It does accept files dragged and dropped onto the button. The icon(s) are shown and all/chosen one can be saved. By default they are saved in the dragged application's folder. The app's UI remains open for further works.

I've tried drag'n'dropping and even explicit file indication in the "Parameters" field of the button. Nothing happens in both cases.
Finally, I've opened the command console to avoid possible conflict between TC and EG_Ico2File.exe. Result is the same.

I am glad to say that Ico2File works as expected on my wife's PC...
The tool's window is not positioned to the center of the screen. I tried it (just out of curiosity) and its window was almost completely hidden behind the right edge of my screen. Vochomurka, maybe it's completely hidden in your case. Try to launch the app and press Enter whether it shows a dialog or not.

Thanks. Pressing Enter when taskbar icon is active, opens the standard file open window. After choosing any icon-containing file and pressing OK nothing happens, though.

Thank you both, it does the trick. The most surprising thing is that now the app works as expected! (I suppose it remembers its last window position and restores it on every subsequent launch, but primarily its position was OUTSIDE the screen).
