Irregular behavior of SpecialCursorMovement=2

Post by *umbra »

1. Add SpecialCursorMovement=2 to your wincmd.ini (or 6 if you have vertical scrollbar in your panels)
2. Start TC (now you can navigate between folders and subfolders using left/right arrow keys)
3. Navigate to a root of some drive and set the cursor on any file/folder in the middle of the panel
4. Now press left arrow a few times

Nothing should happen, the cursor should stay on the same selected file/folder. However, sometimes the cursor jumps to the first item in the panel, as if SpecialCursorMovement was set to 3 (or 7). This happens only when there is no parent folder to jump to.

Tested with TC 8.01, 7.57a (x32, x64)
Windows 10 Pro x64, Windows 11 Pro x64

No, sorry.

I have now tried it with both 32-bit and 64-bit TC on Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows 8, but I cannot reproduce it.

I have tried it too, but didn't get the problem either. Maybe it needs some other options?

No, that's the only setting needed. But it looks like it's happening only on my secondary partition. Not on my system drive, not on external or network drives. And I have no idea why.

Maybe it's the number of items in the root of that partition? How many are there? And how many are displayed at the same time?

Mystery solved. There is a file in the root of that partition, that is being modified every few seconds. And when I press the left arrow after its modification, the cursor jumps to the first item in its panel.

When I use Ctrl+R to reload content of a panel, the cursor stays on the same item. So is intentional that it doesn't after pressing the left arrow?

Ah, that makes sense! It seems to trigger a complete refresh of the list, so the cursor jumps to the top...
