To extract files?

Post by *Number99 »

I get a lot of .rar-files to my phone and I really want to use Total Commander to extract them, but I just can't find a way? I know how to open them but not to extract them into, for example a new folder.

I tried another file manager called Solid Explorer, and there I can long-klick on a rar-file and get the option to Extract the file.

Is this possible in Total Commander?

Double tap the file to open it, then select the files you want to extract and copy them to the new folder created in your second panel....

Providing you have gone into the first (or sublevel) of your rar file, the copy action will extract the files as opposed to copying over the rar file itself.....

Why double tap? I get the same result by tapping just one time.
Thank you, but your solution seems a bit too much work. Maybe I'm lazy, but I want a friendlier solution

Ah, OK, 1 tap it is... Didn't have my tablet around when I typed the reply so was going from memory...

Ok, not the most streamlined process, but it does give you the flexibility to only extract selected files from an archive instead of all of them and if all are to be extracted selected, just use the select button to check all of them.

Yeah, I know. That's how I used to do it. But after discovering the great extraction method in Solid Explorer, I want the same in TC ;-)

I'm sorry, but I really don't know how to explain what I mean any better than I already did?

Christian,
long-klick on a rar-file and get the option to Extract the file [here].
Roman
Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

I see - will this extract the file to the same directory, or a subdirectory? I guess that TC should actually suggest the other panel as the target?

It extracts to the same directory. That's how I like it, but and suggestion to extract to the opposite panel may work as well :-)

It's on my to do list. Unfortunately it would require translation, so it will have to wait for a later (larger) update, sorry.
