prompt on program exit

Post by *albel »

Is there any way to display a Prompt-for-exit message ("Do you really want to quit?") while leaving TC by Alt+F4 or Files->Quit or just [x] in the caption?

Pardon ? Exit Total Commander ?

Is there a obvious reason for quit Total Commander ? (beside of PC shutdown)

:-)
Of course, not. That's why I wonder, can a prompt be displayed if I accidentally try to exit.

Ok, you can try the following:

1. Break either the Alt or the F4 key on your keyboard.

2. Remove the Quit entry in the menu file.

3. Hmmm now for the tricky bit! The [x] in the caption. You can edit a WindowBlind skin which you will apply on TC removing even the [x] button!

4. There must be a way to disable somehow Windows’ task manager as well coz there is another way to close TC if you get it! ;)

Please, let there be confirmation before exiting

I like it. ;) To improve it - maybe let TC start as a service and does not allow to be turned off. And let there be the watchdog process to start TC whenever it is closed by a user or other program :) Or maybe TC should be stored in ROM? ;)

But seriously - when you work with many files - view with external program or edit with notepad and you close that program - sometimes it happens that by mistake you press it again, or press Alt+F4 instead of Ctl+F4 or sth like that.
Then you have to rerun TC. And spend a few seconds on PC without TC!
At least putting TC in QuickAccess/QuickStart on Desktop and in any place being one click away is some workaround.
But confirmaton when exiting would be very useful- so that I could press "NO - do not exit" :)

Yes, there are at least two reasons. First is when I changes wincmd.ini and need to restart TC. Second is when I start two copies of TC and later exit from the second one. :)

IGL,

http://www.catb.org/jargon/html/meaning-of-hack.html , search for Motorola and read the article (if you haven't yet). :)
But confirmaton when exiting would be very useful- so that I could press "NO - do not exit"
Or rather a messagebox saying,

TC won't exit.
OK

:)

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.
