-search is not finding files

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

-search is not finding files

Post by *adoeller »

search term is "hosts"

- in C:\Windows\System32 i get a long list of names that include "hosts" in dirs and subdirs, but not the hosts file itself
- in C:\Windows\System32\drivers i get no results
- in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc i get my hosts file and the hosts.bak

recursion is unlimited. default search options

TCb2 32bit

That is no TC problem !
I guess you are using TC 32bit in a x64 OS
That is no error and you will find the hosts if using TC x64.
Alternativ you can use \windows\sysnative as start point with TC 32bit
to get to the real files.

adoeller,
It should be mentioned that some dirs that you see in System32 folder of 64-bit Windows are pseudo-dirs that TC shows allowing you to e.g. edit hosts file. Real hosts file is located under 64-bit System32 dir. But because of 64-bit redirection (blame Microsoft, not TC) you see SysWOW64 dir contents when enter System32 dir so you need to use mentioned by Horst.Epp SysNative dir instead.
