-Alt+Shift+F7 Search

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

-Alt+Shift+F7 Search

Post by *JimW »

Not sure if this is the right spot for a request, but I'm hoping it is...

The new Search function is accessed using Alt+Shift+F7. Is there a reason that it's not using just Alt+F7? I can't imagine anyone using the previous search once they have this ability, so it seems like it might be better if the new version were the default instead. Unless that's configurable in wincmd.ini, and I just haven't found it yet.

No, it isn't.

Yea, I was afraid of that.

Thanks for the link. I'll post there.

If a Mod wants to delete this thread that's fine.

You can change the hotkey yourself in Configuration - Options - Misc if you prefer the external search.

I can indeed, but that only helps me not everyone else. :) I was just advocating it be the default. I work a lot with network drives, so having the search performed in the background is a huge benefit for me. I suspect others feel the same.

+1. I requested this feature many years ago.) To be perfect the background search should be the default one.

Switch the StandaloneSearch shortcut with the old one Search it's a huge step forward. Also if it's possible, you can change the title of the search window with some different string, like this:
Search... - the old one
Search enhanced... - the new one[/i]
My Best Wishes,

I prefer to keep the two functions separate, so users can continue to use the internal search and don't get new problems.
