popup message position

Post by *franck8244 »

As I have already mentionned it in the french forum (http://www.ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=1979).

Some of the popup message are screen centered and other are centered in the Tc window.
My question : is it be possible for all of them to be centered in TC...
It would be more convenient...

Thanks

For example :

a screen centered message : aborted ftp connection, ftp connection lost or the ftp seesion manager (ctrl+F), etc (but not only with ftp...)

a tc centered message : compress selected file (alt+F5), new ftp session (ctrl+N)

If you still don't see, i can make some screenshot...

Oops, that's really annoying, you are absolutely right.
I've never seen that before because I'm using TC full screen most of the time. :)
It's a bug I'd say, can't believe that it is by design...

That's why I'm asking if it's possible to have all them centered in TC...

I used to run TC in full screen mode but since I change my screen to a bigger one I also find this very annoying...

Most dialogs should be TC-centered, except for the standard Windows MessageBox(), where the location cannot be set (it's always screen-centered). Please let me know if I missed any screen-centered dialogs.

Well, how can I know if it's a MessageBox (screen centered) or a "normal" box

Language tells that

Hello! Bonsoir!
• I guess simply that TC-boxes are TRANSLATED, while many Win (especially errors messages) are not and stay in English.
• I you have a doubt, you can search a part of the text for the box in the French language file... I hope you use it

A MessageBox can be recognized easily by it's simple structure: It's a confirmation box with either just OK, OK+Cancel, Yes+No, or Yes+No+Cancel. It may also have an icon with a question mark or exclamation mark.

So the first "non centered" is the dialog box for the ftp connection (ctrl+f)

2Clo
The message for ftp "connection lost" is screen centered (it's a message box) but it's also translated (in fact I'm using french language of TC)

Too reduced ?

Post by *Clo »

2franck8244
• Thanks to use the French language

• I made a test reducing the main window : as so long as the main window is large enough with regard to the FTP-Connect dialog size, the box is centered.

• But whether the main window is too reduced, it can't contain the box, indeed; hence the box is displayed overflowing on the right side. The dialogs have fix dimensions, of course… However, you can always move the box by hand on a free part of your screen, since you have a large one.
¤ Something like this ???

I have tried your test but the "ftp session" is always at the same place...

there are screenshots :

http://fgartemann.free.fr/TC/TC_fullscreen.jpg

http://fgartemann.free.fr/TC/TC_normal.jpg

You'll see that the main window can easily contain the ftp one....

I know that I can move the box but it's a bit annoying to use the mouse...

After some tests it seams that my "ftp session" is always centered on the whole screen, and not on the active TC window, is that the problem ?

Sorry for my english... my mother language is french...

Some details

:)  Hello Paul !
• At home, the top of the box is just under the drive-buttons ranks... when I reduce the main window a little.
2ghisler(Author)
Please let me know if I missed any screen-centered dialogs.
Good evening,
• I didn't see a position in <wincmd.ini> under [ screen definition...] for the "Connect-FTP" dialog and similar... But yet, that works normally at home.

Claude
