+-[8.50b4x32] Calc checksum dialog weird position

Post by *MVV »

It always uses absolute position (200,135) on my 1920x1080 display, even when TC is in right-bottom corner so it doesn't overlap with checksum dialog at all.

Also I think dialog width may be increased. It is too small to fit even path to standard Windows temp folder...

I have the same problem see here (Double bug report)
My screen is 1200x1920 (Pivot), if this helps.

+1
BTW: Why all TC dialogs are such small? Even 50% bigger size would fit in 640x480, so this is no excuse anymore :)

Indeed I forgot to set the form to "centered", sorry. Will be changed.

About the width: It already looks very ugly now with this huge blank space to the right of the checksum types. I tried with multiple columns, but I think it's better with all in one column...

I think you should use multiple columns. Labels are all short so there's no need to put checkboxes in a single column. I think you can easilly put each two methods per column so there will be 3 columns, or maybe even into a single line (it will still look much better than now).

Yes, it's ugly like now.
Why do not try horizontal radio buttons? You have enough space

I prefer the current dialog with huge white space,
because the values are in a list form, way better
readable.

Biozynotiker,
I hate new Windows 7 Control Panel (w/o classic list view, only icons which are line by line and not column by column) but here I think single line would be better because it will improve overall dialog look greatly. There are only some items (currently 5, if we'll need more we can add second line, anyway it won't be single narrow column in a wide dialog with huge empty space) so it is not so hard to see all of them, and in future you'll remember their positions (or just Alt+Shortcuts) so it won't be a problem to read this list.

Unfortunately arranging the radio buttons horizontally doesn't look any better, mainly because the first entry
CRC32 (SFV)
is twice the length of the others. If I space them all evenly, then there is a lot of whitespace. If I don't space them evenly, it doesn't look good either. :(

I think equal spacing is good enough. Don't worry about lot of whitespace, currently there are MUCH MORE whitespace in a dialog.

If too big difference in label length is the main problem, you can shorten "CRC32 (SFV)" to just "SFV" without it hurting anything. There are only two groups of people: one knows that SFV uses CRC32 and doesn't need reminding and the other one doesn't care.

Sorry, I still think that the current arrangement is the best.

ghisler,
Please make at least two columns, it is too much unused space in current dialog.

Thank you, two-column dialog looks fine. :)
And, bug is fixed too in 8.50b5.

For now I have implemented it only in the 32-bit version - I wanted to hear first from users what they think. Should I keep it, and use in 64-bit too?
