FYI regarding my problem of the BTM's overwrite prompt stealing keyboard focus from other applications.
I'll save you all the details of me chasing red herrings and my own tail, but all evidence i found points at a problem with my particular OS/system configuration, a-ka Windows 7. The funny thing (or outright crazy, you might say) is, that merely starting my Visual Studio 2010 installation (incl. a handful of extensions) makes the Overwrite prompt not stealing keyboard focus from other applications anymore (i am not kidding!). I could close VS2010, close TC and start it again -- the fix always seems to last for the current user session (until i log out).
Since this particular problem of stealing keyboard focus from other applications so far is limited to the BTM's overwrite prompt only -- i have no such problems with F5/F6 background overwrite prompt or with other programs --, i will leave it as-is, until i will be able to either replicate my setup step-by-step on identical hardware or find the substantial time required to do some thorough system debugging. But there's a pretty good chance that this will not happen anytime soon...
