-Rename on FTP - no overwrite confirmation

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

-Rename on FTP - no overwrite confirmation

Post by *MarcinW »

I don't know if this is a bug or a designed behavior. When we change the file name (with Shift+F6) on remote FTP server and a file with the new name already exists, it is silently overwritten - without any confirmation.

It depends on the server - some servers return an error on sending RNTO if the target exists, some don't. TC only shows error if the server reports one.

Thanks. So maybe TC could warn the user in such case, just before sending the rename command to the FTP server? TC is aware of all file names in the directory, so this should be easy to implement.
