-Windows 8.1 upgrade assistant reports incompatibility

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

-Windows 8.1 upgrade assistant reports incompatibility

Post by *Janson »

According to "About" I use TC 8.50 beta 10.
Today the Windows 8.1 upgrade assistant reports that I have version 7.55a and it is incompatible with Win 8.1.
Would the new beta solve it? Can I safely upgrade to 8.1? THANKS!

TC 8.01 is the latest stable final version. Maybe you should upgrade to that first.

Indeed TC 7.56a and older are not compatible with Windows 8.0 and 8.1.

The latest TC beta instructs to install it only for test purposes. Nevertheless I installed it. Now the windows 8.1 update succeded. However at the end of the procedure (the automatic restart) a message came: there is a problem with your computer and it must be restarted. Then came the message: the upgrade failed. The original Win 8.0 Pro version was reinstalled. Errorcodes oxC1900101 - ox20017. No idea what caused this. My laptop worked well before.. all windows and Norton updates and a full scan were done.

Sorry, but this has nothing to do with Total Commander in any way.
So better report it to Microsoft.

This is a know problem with Windows 8.1 upgrade (just google 0xC1900101) - I cannot upgrade my HP Laptop either - even though it has all the latest drivers from HP.
