?Disappearing network drives

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

?Disappearing network drives

Post by *lofvall »

I'm using beta version 12 and I have the problem that my network drives keeps disappearing. When I start the commander up, all my drives work fine, but after a while (usually within an hour) they are gone. Restarting the TC will bring them back.

I have not seen this with any of the previous versions of TC.

I have a colleague which is using the same version and he sees the same problem.

Are these NAS drives (network attached storage)? The NAS may have a timeout when it goes to sleep. This will close the connections.

No these are not NAS drivers. They are windows storage servers.

I'm using windows 8.1 my self, maybe that has an influence

It still sounds like you get logged out. TC itself does not have any timeout for network connections, so this must be set somewhere else.

I'm not logged out. Everything else works as expected. Just restarting the TC will bring the drivers back online. Starting a file explorer also shows all drivers correctly.

I run the TC in admin mode, maybe Windows kills my session after a while if I haven't used it.

I could also be something about locking the computer (screen saver with lock / Windows key + L) that kills my network session. But all other programs handles this with any problems.

Also, I have never seen this problem with earlier versions of TC. I think that I will return to the 8.0 version and see if it has the same issue

Yes, admin mode is treated like a separate users by Windows. It seems that a timeout is defined for this separate user only. Can you try to run TC as normal user and check whether it still happens?

I does seem to have impact to run as administrator.

I have also retried the 8.01 version and it has the same issue in administrator mode
