-PDF's don't open

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

-PDF's don't open

Post by *JoeBrown »

By double-click on a PDF-File the PDF won't open.
In the Taskmanager the Acrobat Reader Task is visible.
It is by 32Bit and 64Bit Version.

The TC 8.01 open PDF Files.

System: Windows 8.1 Pro 64 Bit
AdobeReader 11.0.5

Sorry, not using Acrobat here.
It could have several reasons:
1. Bad file association -> re-install Acrobat Reader
oe
2. You are running TC as admin, but Acrobat as normal user

This is very strange,

the TC was started as ADMIN, THE ACROBAT also as ADMIN the PDF dont open.

If the TC is stared as normal user and the ACROBAT also as normal USER the PDF open.

Very strage !

Maybe the association is not set for all users but only to your regular user. Can you check it by running regedit as normal user and as administrator, and compare HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.pdf ?

All File-associations are set correctly. If I start the TC as normal user (with Adminaccount) and doubleclick a pdf it will open. IF I start one or both of the Programs (Adobereader or TC) as normal User with the Option "run as Administrator" the PDF's don't open.
This happens only in the TC not in the Windows Explorer.

You cannot do DDE (dynamic data exchange) between programs with different user credentials (this includes "as administrator"). Windows itself blocks this.

You can change the association to NOT use DDE, and appent parameter "%1" to file name. You will get a separate program copy each time you open a PDF, though.
