Transfer Speed w/ LAN Plugin

Post by *mackeev »

File transfer speed seems very low while transferring files over the network with LAN plugin. I measured the download speed with Network Speed application, and it never showed more than 800 Kb/s, whereas the speed of a streaming video (from the same PC on the network via the very same LAN plugin) measured plausible 1.3-1.5 Mb/s (PC-PC transfers via TC show the same speed).

Unfortunately the Java implementation of SMB protocol isn't very fast indeed. If you can, try using a different protocol.

in Solid explorer transfer speed is faster, 1,4-1,9 mb/s

LAN plugin http://troloload.ru/f/18385_screenshot_2014-01-14-13-53-03.png

while streaming via LAN plugin it shows 2,2+ mb/s http://troloload.ru/f/18386_screenshot_2014-01-15-13-37-07.png

p.s. transfer speed counter is shown in the upper right corner

Are you suggesting I should disable SMB?

No, just use some other server type if the server offers it, e.g. FTP, WebDAV etc.
