By the way, what did you mean by: "If this thread was meant serious..."?
Serious regarding your interest to moderate it... If you wouldn't be willing to collect the best tips the threads is just one of those "what's better, Linux or Windows?" catastrophes, a bloated collection of useful tips and arguments.

You name what's good and what's bad. Your rules in the first posting make sense imho. Ini settings not available in configuration dialogs and useful for 99,9% of all users.
Discussions about what's a good setting and what's not should be allowed.

Well, in the end, it's your thread, you decide. :)

Double-check your .INI! I've remapped rename to F2 (and I use Ctrl+R to reread) as well and it works without any problems. Looks like this:
[Configuration]
RenameSelOnlyName=1
Hmm hmmm i have to admit i never do any rereads ... :) But i sure have rename on F2. And my .ini file starts with those exact words, i even tried copying from your text. Still, when i press F2, i get to rename the whole file. Mycket märkligt.

PS: my .ini files are the original ones, and I did restart TCMD

Have you upgraded to the latest relase of Total Commander? The RenameSelOnlyName option has been introduced in version 6.02.

Way better than the default font.
How can you make the font in the Lister to be the same as this one? Or, anyway, to change something about it ?

Yes ! That's also one 'improvement' that I would like to see in Total Commander.

That's a detail, but it would make TC more perfect again

I don't know if I misunderstood your wish guys but you can already define fonts in Lister through its configurations. Just run Lister and under the menu Options select Configure. You will see a section about fonts where you can define the fonts for ANSI, ASCII or Variable. Just make sure to un-tick the "default" option to allow the user-definable one to be applied (define your selection from the ".." buttons for each individual case).

Well, yeah, that helps a bit. But why so many fonts for ANSI and ASCII? Are they restricted somehow? As for Variable, it works fine. Now I discover the "Font at startup" option :P

Thanks! I had missed that one! Great!!
Yes. That's what I've been searching. Almost changed to Directory Opus for this feature.
How come these kind of settings still aren't in the wincmd.ini by default?

What does this setting do? I tried it out, but can't see any change. Please explain.

:)   Hello !
• In example, you get:
File1.xyz
File2.xyz
.......
File 10.xyz
File11.xyz
* Without that setting, you would obtain File10.xyz and file 11.xyz at the head of the list !
  Unfortunately, that doesn't support the accented characters when we have some among the normal ones; I mean, i.e. that "é" initial isn't placed just after "e"...
All accented characters are set at the end of the list, like :

Code: Select all

à
â
ä
ç
é
è
ê
ë
.....
ÿ
* Some requests have been made already to the Author to fix this, but that seems very difficult to solve (you could get topics from the Search, that works sometimes...)
   Kind regards,
Claude
