-Rename using "cm_OpenDesktop" command directory

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

-Rename using "cm_OpenDesktop" command directory

Post by *Reinosoft »

Hello,

I found a bug in totalcmd; i've updated it to ttcmd 8.51B1 but that didn't help.
I've opened the desktop directory from the toolbar using the command: "cm_OpenDesktop"

When renaming a file, the file extention isn't showed, (i've checked the option "select only the filename when renaming (not the extention)") but that checkbox isn't checked.

Contents of virtual folders is received from Explorer so hidden files, hidden extensions and other Explorer options matter. You should work with physical desktop folder instead to get full power: cd %$DESKTOP%.

This is due to a misfeature in Explorer, which also has an influence on virtual folders in all other programs.

Solution:
1. Start Explorer.exe
2. Press the Alt key to see the menu
3. Choose Extra - Folder options
4. Switch to the second tab
5. Deactivate the following option: "Hide extensions of known file types"

The texts may be slighly different because the above is a translation from the German version of Windows.
