Enhancement request for the change attribute

Post by *zeflash »

Hi,

I need to change the hour on all the files matching a certain description (*.cpp, *.h for example). I'd like to be able to add or substract time from the file date.
Is it something someone would like to see in TC? kindof an extension of the file search - or a merge between change attribute & the filesearch.

Are there (free) tools that could do that in the meanwhile?

Hello

Try this addon for TC : http://thehacker.host.sk/addtime/

or this other one : http://thehacker.host.sk/redate/

Greetings

Hmmm I was using those tools when I suddenly found out something weird (a bug, let's face it :) )

When I substract or add time (like, an hour) it seems to modify the seconds too.
For example, I have a file which time is 22:59:39.
Using addTime, I add an hour to it.
One would think it will then be 23:59:39. Nope, it's 23:59:40.
If I try to substract a second, it doesn't work - it actually substract 2 seconds. f I try to add a second, it stays at 23:59:38.

Could someone look into that? I'm relying on the tool to synchronize things in CVS and it's messed up because of this second problem.

The problem is... I don't have enough betatesters. No, seriously, this is a known issue ( http://ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=478 ). FAT filesystems use a 2-second precision and as I have W98 at home (using FAT) I couldn't find out what exactly to change in my program to make it work correctly. Maybe you could help me? However, I currently don't have much free time, as there's lots of studying to be done :( .

BTW: Does this happen when using the standalone command line version of AddTime ( http://thehacker.host.sk/addtime/ )?

TIA

Well, I hope you don't take it wrong, but I'll start developing a tool doing that by myself. I've been wanting to do that for a long time now...

C++ & pure win32 api, that shouldn't be too difficult :)
I'll post my tool when I find it "ready to be released" :)

Fine with me, it's just those annoying UTC and DST times you have to be careful with.

Maybe you just pushed me to fix it using a less elegant workaround. :)

OK, there is AddTime Addon 1.03 beta available at http://thehacker.host.sk/myfiles/ (addtime_addon_1_03_beta.exe), mind testing it?

TIA

Damn my last post failed because of an "invalid session"...

It seems it works fine now - no more seconds added or removed when changing something else.

Thanks for the update! I still need to find time to continue my own version of this tool - hard to find, too hard.

Yeah, that's why we have Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C.

Great, I'll soon release it officially, then.

Thanks

Hmm, in Mozilla Firefox I can just click on "back" to get to my posting and then send it again...

Btw, I'm considering to move ghisler.ch to a dedicated hosting solution. Currently it's on shared hosting, and it seems to reach its maximum. Can anyone recommend a reliable not too expensive (<$100/month) dedicated hoster with about 20 GB/month traffic? It has to be a dedicated server, because the CPU seems to be the limiting factor, not the bandwidth.
