Icon in Add/Remove Programs shows red X through it

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Icon in Add/Remove Programs shows red X through it

Post by *EyesofThunder »

I have Windows 7 Enterprise, and the icon in Add/Remove programs shows a red X through it, like the wrong icon got loaded.

Program seems to work fine.

Hello, EyesofThunder.

I fail to see which problem you try to report.
First of all there are more than just 1 icons inside Add/Remove Programs (Programs and Features, starting with Vista).
Second it is absolutely normal that the Total Commander (Remove or Repair) icon displays a diskette icon with a large red X overlay.

Kind regards,
Karl

The red cross is likely to show the ability to uninstall the program.
No bug, as i guess.

There is no bug. That's the correct uninstall icon of TC (tcuninst.exe). As Gral said: The big red cross shows the ability to uninstall TC.

Ok, no other applications have a X over the icon. Total Commander is the oddball for all apps that I have ever seen in there.

If intended that is fine, it is just very odd and not the norm.

Total Commander icon is just a blue diskette. TC uninstallation icon has red cross over diskette for two decades, and you're the first one who are wondered.
Anyway I doubt there are any norms for uninstall icons... most of authors are too lazy to draw special icons for uninstallers. BTW google shows a huge bunch of red crosses on uninstall icon request. 8)

Won't argue with that, I am new to TC, so it was odd to see it.
