?Wrong volume label on Nearly Simultaneous USB key insert

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

?Wrong volume label on Nearly Simultaneous USB key insert

Post by *squeeze69 »

Hi, tested on TC8.51B5 (32bit,registered, didn't test on the 64bit version).

W7 HP 64bit (fully patched).

If two usb keys (i.e.: "somedrive" and "otherdrive") are inserted within very few seconds one from the other the TC drive dropdown reports only one of the volume label (i.e.: both are labeled "somedrive").

If you access the wrongly labeled drive the volume label is correctly displayed (otherdrive).

I "stomped" on this at B4 (and verified at B5).

Explorer reports correct labeling.

Unfortunately I couldn't reproduce it. I tried with several USB sticks, and plugged them in at the same time, with one and two second delays, but the label was always correct.

Could you send me your wincmd.ini to support at ghisler dot com, please? It may be a settings problem.

damn...

...it was MY fault.

Accidentally I've used some usb keys with an autorun.inf with the right label set, 4 different keys where I've portableapps.com installed (some in use, some old test) and got confused by the volume label displayed once the drive is selected.

File: autorun.inf
[Autorun]
Label=PortableApps.com

When selected the volume label is displayed while the "autorun.inf"'s Label is displayed only in the dropdown. :)

My apologies for wasting your time. :)

Ah, I see, thanks for the clarification! The dropdown list shows the labels from Explorer, which also include these Label values. When you choose a drive, that drive's real volume label will be shown.
