The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Text search: was searching for the text
d:\temp
but nothing was found, even if there are files with this text.

I tried now d:\\temp and now it was found - but I guess many users do not know this trick with \\

Users who press F1 in search dialog do know this trick. :wink:

Yes, sometimes it would be better to disable escape sequences but currently there is no way to disable them.

* Create a text file containing the text "d:\temp"
* View the file using TC's internal lister and select "d:\temp" in the text
* Press F7 to start the search

In this case the search suggestion should be to search for the selected text, not to search for "d:<TAB>emp". So in this case TC should escape all "\" characters.

Agree. If TC suggests selected text it should escape it correctly.
