Some custom folder icons displaying as blank

Post by *jalperin »

In my Documents directory, the folders for Dropbox and Google Drive display as blanks (that is, no icons displays -- just the folder name). When I navigate into either folder, any folders with custom icons are also blank. Note that this does not happen in Windows Explorer. It also does not happen if I run Total Commander as Administrator.

If I refresh Total Commander, I do see the missing icons for a brief instant, then they go blank again.

I'm using Total Commander x64 8.51a on Windows 7.

Any ideas what's going on and how to resolve the issue?

Hmm, no idea (no problems here). TC first shows a standard icon when there is a per folder icon, and then loads the true icon in the background. There is probably some misconfiguration in the registry...

Any suggestions for trying to resolve? Would uninstalling TC and reinstalling be likely to help?

Uninstalling and re-installing TC did not help, but uninstalling and re-installing Dropbox fixed the problem!

I am facing a similar problem now on Windows 10 Pro 64-bit and latest Total Commander 9.51.

In order to start my most used programs very quickly via keyboard, I created a custom folder and within this folder are all shortcuts to my favorite programs and apps.
BTW, this is how I launch my programs with the keyboard only: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8DR_XLp9TIo

In Windows Explorer everything shows up as expected, but not in TC.

Any ideas?

BTW. Note, that on TC with user commands, keyboard shortcuts and aliases you can run programs much more efficient, e.g.with portable TC and programs your shortcuts and aliases are portable too. You can also open files directly (impossible by your method)
