Multipart archive content is not refreshed

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Multipart archive content is not refreshed

Post by *lancelot »

Suppose I have a RAR archive split into two parts and initially I have only the first part available. I open the first part in TC and click Cancel when prompted for the next volume (incidentally, 'Please insert disk number part2!' isn't the best prompt). TC shows the files from the first volume. So far so good.

Next I put the second volume in the same folder as the first volume. I open the first volume again. The problem is that TC still shows only the files from the first volume. There seems to be no way to refresh the contents other than opening a different archive first and then going back to the multipart archive.

This seems to be related to http://ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=39417#285334. Again, WinRAR has no issue here because it seems to follow a simple rule: when opening an archive, always start with a clean sheet (including asking for the password, although password is irrelevant for this example); while inside the archive, remember the current state (including the password). I don't see why TC cannot do something similar; the only complication might be that the state needs to be remembered for several folder tabs.

TC caches the directory of an archive, and only refreshes the cache under the following conditions:
1. The archive changes timestamp or size
or
2. You open a different archive in the same panel, and then again this archive

This is by design and will not be changed, sorry.
