Just hold down your finger on the desktop, then choose "Shortcut" - "Total Commander".

Actualy, I asked about shortcut to any file, not TC itself. If I make a shortcut the way you propose, I got a TC-iconed shurtcut, no matter what kind of file or folder it points to.
I meaned, it would be handy, if there will be an option "Create Shurtcut" in TC long touch context menu (in addition to "Open with", "Send", "Rename", etc..)

Sorry, there isn't - I'm not aware of any function to create shortcuts on the desktop programmatically. But you can create shortcuts to any file the way I described it. It depends on your device whether you can also change the icon.

I have checked it - there is a function, but it requires two more permissions, and doesn't allow to choose where exactly the shortcut should be placed. Therefore better use the mechanism to create shortcuts directly on the desktop.

The drag and drop is not implemented correctly.
You should be able to drag and drop anything anywhere as a shortcut of the item just by holding the ALT key. Except on TC.
Also the control key held down should create a copy even in the same directory - except on TC
And the default action on D&D should be to move - except on TC
The same is true with the default hotkeys - my freakin' god on a stick!
It feels like bizzaro land the way TC just ignores convention - like we have the time to relearn everything just for the sake of one program out of a hundred? That's just nuts. It's fast because of the programming, but the UX STINKS.
