TC8.51a 64Bit: Timestamps are cut off!

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

TC8.51a 64Bit: Timestamps are cut off!

Post by *Critter »

It is hard for me to compare files based on their times because timestamps are cut off after minutes.
However, to explain that without screenshot is a bit difficult (I actaully have one for you, but found no possibility to upload here). Anyway:
- If I choose display setting short and click on a file, the file size and timestamp is displayed to the bottom right: However, if I leave the dividing bar between the two halves of TC exactly in the middle, the timestamp is cut off exactly after the ":" sign behind the hours; there are no minutes visble.
If I enlarge the width of the active side of TC (by moving dividing bar), I am able to see the minutes.
- If I choose display setting long, problem is similar: Minutes of ALL files are cut off - and they are only visible (as well as other file attributes like readable, writable etc.) if I enlarge the dividing bar again.
Anyway, except file details everything else is displayed correctly, in any view.
Problem remains the same if I change screen resolution or move TC to another monitor.
I use Win8.1 64Bit and three monitors, one of a laptop, one per D-SUB and a third one with USB (both same product).

Upload it to a site of your choosing and link to it here. If the forum complains about the link due to your recent membership, cut the "http://" and "www" from it.

Just make the columns (date and attribute) wider to see all details.

Yes, you are right, that works. However, If I use TC on other PCs that is not necessary, as it fits automatically.
And the bug still reamains with view small.
Is assume there is a problem in recognizing proper screen width ...

Seems that the "attrib" column is moved out of reach.
Configuration -> Options.. -> "Tabstops" : [Default] : [Ok]
should fix this.

It was already mentioned that tabstops' widths are pointless and confusing in brief view mode but switching to full view mode allows moving status bar items by resizing tabstops.

Thanks all, that actually helped.
Well, this feature is actually helpful - however, I think it should be explained better in the options menu.
I firmly thought it would be a bug and not intention ...
