Currently, Total Commander accepts a number of command line parameters. Among these:
/O :If Total Commander is already running, activate it and pass the path(s) in the command line to that instance (overrides the settings in the configuration dialog to have multiple windows)
/N :Opens in any case a new Total Commander window (overrides the settings in the configuration dialog to allow only one copy of Total Commander at a time)
/L= :Set path in left window
/R= :Set path right window
It would be nice to have an additional command line parameter to "Set the path to the ACTIVE panel" (or, if you prefer, "Set path to the SOURCE panel"). It would be particularly useful together with the existing "/O" parameter (see above), maybe not so much with the "/N".
So, for example:
totalcmd.exe /O /L=c:\Data -> This currently activates a currently running instance of TC and shows the directory C:\Data in the LEFT panel.
With the new parameter I'm suggesting (let's call it "/A", for Active, I don't know if the letter is already used):
totalcmd.exe /O /A=c:\Data -> this would activate a currently running instance of TC and show the directory C:\Data in the ACTIVE (or Source) panel.
That's it. If anyone knows about a current function that would work instead of this parameter (or even if the parameter actually exists and is not documented), please reply. Same with comments or ideas about the suggestion.
This new parameter would probably have a number of uses, but the need for it arose as a consequence of a suggestion icfu made on this thread.
Thanks,
Janus

Sounds like a good idea! I will add it to my wish list.

That is really a great idea! Christian, can I also request for another command line parameter to instruct TC to open the directory under a new tab? This would be particularly useful with the /O switch, for example:
totalcmd.exe /O /T=c:\Data
Where /T could be the new "open under a new tab" switch (on the active side of course
)
totalcmd.exe /O /T=c:\Data
Where /T could be the new "open under a new tab" switch (on the active side of course

I switched to Linux, bye and thanks for all the fish!
