Search network

Post by *Thany »

Is it possible to search for a resource (file, directory, computer, whatever) through a whole workgroup or domain at once? Or maybe even through the entire network?

When I press Alt+F7 from a workgroup, I can't get TC to search that folder, because logically \\workgroupname doesn't exist (it says "Search path not found").

:) Hello !
• That doesn't work in TC... My son installed a third-party program to do this: Splash LAN Search at:
http://www.splashstudio.com
* Not updated for a long while, but the link works still at this moment.

  Kind regards,
Claude

Well speaking about search utility, our Aezay's LAN File Searcher ( http://www.aezay.dk/aezay/lanfs/index.html ) is better!
;-)

NetworkAlt gives me the error "Unknown ErrorR" with "123" in the title, when I do a search...

/edit
hmm, there are a bit more typos in NetworkAlt, maybe because the author is russian :)

The error occurs only because there is a Windows-default-share called IPC$ which points to a directory that doesn't exist.

But after pressing OK the search runs.

Not in my case :(

Anyway, I'll just use an external program to search. It's not a matter of live and death anyway...

Although I havent worked on this for ages, its still quite useful. Except the internal downloader, don't ever use that, unless you want it to crash of course

Try downloading more than 1 file at the time, or abort the downloads. Then it will freeze or crash.
