FTP and SSH issue

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

FTP and SSH issue

Post by *bagou01 »

Hi,
first, like everyone here, i'm a huge fan of TC (custommer since long ago), but i have to admit that ftp is one of its weaknesses.
despite that, i'm trying to connect to a site that works with filezilla, so infos are correct. it uses SSH, and heres the issue: as soon as i connect i get "connection lost reconnect", then i click yes, then i get an error message....

i "think" i installed the correct plugin, if by installing i'm supposed to copy the dll in the totalcmd directory plus add it in the plugin configuration dialog. and i can check the SSH box in the ftp options so i guess it must be ok.

could you please help me here ?

thanks a lot.

PS: is there an updated version due soon? i would really love to see the possibility to transfer more then one file at once in next releases :) would allow me to remove filezilla completely from my disk :)

Double clicking the zip file should have been enough!

Which "SSH" option or "SSH box" did you check?

What are you actually trying to do?

Do you want to do FTP, SFTP or FTPS?

FTP => Plain FTP, non encrypted
FTPS => like FTP but encrypted using SSL / TLS

SFTP = totally different, it uses SSH as a transport

Right, for SFTP you need a plugin, i guess you downloaded that as you wrote. Maybe i'm misunderstanding, but to me it looks like you installed the plugin but use the normal FTP connection (Pressing CTRL+F or using Net -> FTP connect)

The SFTP (= FTP over SSH) Plugin hides within the Network Neighborhood. So go to Network -> Secure FTP -> press F7 to create a new connection.

Type your details and try to connect.

Bear in mind that you need some DLLs (it is mentioned on the official plugin page: http://ghisler.com/plugins.htm#filesys )

Is that working for you?

There is the possibility to Up/Download in Background. This opens a separate connection. It is not the best solution but okay.

thanks a lot,
the network neighborhood workedfor me :)

big thanks for the support !

PS: last thing, when i meant simultaneous transfers like file zilla, i meant selecting a whole folder then it transfers 10 files simultaneously, if i just connect 10 times i have to select different parts of the folder each time, i don't know if i'm clear?

You can select a folder and the files are transferred sequentially. Whats the problem? :)

well, files being transferred one by one is slower then files being transferred by 10 simultaneously, so every time i need to transfer a big pack of files, i don't have a choice but use filezilla, which is, by all logic, 10 times faster :)
