Windows 10: Do Total Commander work fine?
Hello,
I would like to know if Total Commander will operate correctly in the new Windows 10, or not work, or if you do it will have some limitations.
Greetings and thank you,

But maybe with some issues because of some strange Microsoft design changes (they like doing strange things and break things). Anyway, after final W10 release all issues will be fixed.

We will only know once Windows 10 final is available, there may be last minute changes causing problems. If that happens, I will release a bugfix version of Total Commander. But so far it looks good.

Newest version of TC, both 32 & 64 hang in more than half of startings in Windows 10 final in Microsoft Surface Pro 3 (haven't installed Win 10 in other computers yet). Quitting TC (both versions) in Task Manager is very hard, getting them to quit takes from one to four and half minutes irrespective how many times "End task" button is clicked. Waiting TC to quit in Task Manager is wasting of time, because TC hangs immediately when retrying to start it. Only a complete reboot of the computer helps.ghisler(Author) wrote:We will only know once Windows 10 final is available, there may be last minute changes causing problems. TC freezes also in Windows' Safe Mode. Reinstalling TC does not help.

When i start the explorer parallel in the freeze situation tc also goes from freeze to open.
Thanks Spaiky! Your observation helped me to test - but not solve - the problem a bit further.Spaiky wrote:Same problem here. The typical pattern seems to be the following: TC starts after boot one time, freezes always when I try to start TC a second time. But when I then open File Explorer it releases TC every time!
But if I open File Explorer first, and after it trying to start TC, TC freezes despite File Explorer being open. In other words, File Eplorer's *opening process* somehow kickstarts also TC. It kinda nudges TC, saying: "Hey pal, please wake up and start together with me!". If File Explorer is already open, it cannot help TC any more.
Go figure... I hope this description helps Christian to get on the track of this anomaly.
Same problem, TC freezes most of the time.
