Best 7zip plugin (64 bit): most stable/bug-error free

Hi.

What's the best (most stable/bug free) 7zip plugin (64bit) for TCommander 8.5.x, 7zip 0.7.6.5a or Total7zip?

That's a highly subjective topic.
7zip 0.7.6.5a is compiled from the (then) official 7-Zip source, so there's no need to worry about stability, unless some possible bugs would have affected the official 7-Zip also.
Total7zip depends on the official 7z.dll file, so updating is easy (but future versions might break interface compatibility).

I've used both plug-ins for quite a time now (yes, x64), and didn't find any bugs or crashes so far.

But personally, I'd stay with Total7zip, as it also supports all other 7-Zip archive file formats for reading,
especially ISO files with UDF file system, plus it registers as Lister and Content plug-in.
A source is not available though.

Have you tried with latest beta (15.06, http://7-zip.org/download.html ) version? Does It work (15.06 7z.dll with Total7zip) fine ? It supports RAR5 archives.

Yes, I should have said: depends also on 7zG.exe, which itself depends on 7z.dll ...
Not sure what the plug-in exactly does with the exe.
Anyway, it's the same files you'd download from the 7-Zip home page.

Not yet, I try to avoid installing beta versions.
The 9.20 version works stable for me.

I use the Total7zip plugin and have its config changed
to point to my 7-zip x64 15.06 beta installation.
This works fine for me.

A newish 7z plugin can be found on sf.net, not as good as total7zip as does not have wlx and wdx interfaces but still a good alternative

ps. the above plugin needs 7z.dll but does not need 7zg.exe, and it does support all formats total7zip does (7z, lzma, xz, bz2, gz, win, iso, rar ...)
Finding a binary version requires extracting the wcx from the doublecmd distribution and renaming the 64bit wcx from sevenzip.wcx to sevenzip.wcx64
Too bad the author does not publish his plugins on totalcmd.net

AFAIK you can register Total7zip.wcx as content and lister plugin, just paste path to it in add plugin dialog.

The plug-in file can be used as a lister/content plug-in, no matter the extension.
There are basically two ways to register it properly:

Use the same file: (recommended)
Just open TC's wlx/wdx plug-in 'add' dialog. Type '*' or '*.*' and press return to remove the file extension filter.
Now navigate to the wcx plug-in dir and open Total7zip.wcx or Total7zip.wcx64.
It won't matter to TC if the file is already registered as wcx, it will still work properly.

Make a copy:
Just copy the plug-in files to a new/different location and rename the wcx/wcx64 extension to wlx/wlx64 etc.
Now register the renamed file normally. This might be redundant and waste disk space, but should still work.

A third way might be to directly mod the wincmd.ini file, but you should know how to correctly format the entries.
