[Ctrl +B] and search refinement

Post by *krojc »

This is just an idea I guess. I use find files a lot and it does the job. Since I'm very well organized :) I usually prefer [Ctrl +B] and then search for items using [Shift+Letter] combination. Lately I got an idea that this search for a file could also be search refinement feature. I'd open Folder using [Ctrl +B] and then instead of searching for one file I'd use it to refine files listed. Inserting [Shift +*.zip] would list only those on the fly...

What do you think?

If this is the same as

sorry. Sounds similar, but I'm not sure.

open 'Configuration->Operation' and tick in the section 'Quick search (current dir)' the checkbox 'Letters - with search dialog'

Then type in your folder (after [Ctrl]+ ) '*.zip' and [esc]. Now you are on the first *.zip file.
Now press [Alt] + [NUM+] - all files with this extension are selected.
Finally Press [Alt] + [W] (for show) and [o] (for only selected files).

It sounds a bit complicated, but if you used it sometimes you may find it quite convenient.
This way you could include not only '*.zip but also *.rar ore else.

Instead you could define filters.

Or when you type '*.zip' and simply press [down] you can move through the matching files.
