I have saved a couple of alternative profiles for the multi-renaming tool and to be honest I never use the default profile. Is there a way that I can either...
a) Have my preferred profile be automatically loaded when calling the multi-renaming tool with CTRL+M or...
b) Change the default profile so it matches my preferred saved profile?
Either would save me a step in having to select which profile I want to use each time I launch multi-renaming tool. I use this tool a *lot* and very frequently too on occasions, so having to continually reselect the profile I want each time does get a bit tedious.

Probably you didn't get a reply since this is rather a suggestion of a feature other than a look-up for a "hidden" to you feature. There is no way currently to do what you are asking with the multi-rename tool but your idea is quite interesting and I second that.
