Login problem with SFTP plugin

Hello all,

after changing my SSH passwords to something more strong (115 bits according to KeePass) I cannot login anymore to my servers using the SFTP plugin of Total Commander for Android.

The error on the device is:

Code: Select all

UserAuthException: Exhausted available authentification methods

On the server I see in /var/log/auth.log:

May 10 13:18:51 server sshd[7404]: pam_unix(sshd:auth): authentication failure; logname= uid=0 euid=0 tty=ssh ruser= rhost=1.2.3.4  user=USER

And yes, I am sure I entered the password correctly. I also tried several servers where I use the password. Always the same problem.

Is there a problem with the plugin handling long passwords or maybe some special characters?

Hm, ok, forget it - but maybe a hint for others:

It seems that Android, Cyanogen Mod, Swiftkey, only my device (?) does not send the character § correctly. I used a different special character among others now, and it works.

That's probably an encoding problem - § uses a different code in UTF-8 than in ANSI (Western) encoding.

Same problem here! I am using the SFTP plugin and my password does not contain xxxx. With solid explorer I can login but not with total commander.
my password has more than xx characters. May this be a problem?

problem solved; perhaps some whitespaces?
