Search path not found!

I'm getting this error a bit ATM for one particular file when trying to execute it by double clicking it. What does it mean?

:)  Hello !
• Humm... That could occur when the associated program is located on a network-drive in a non-shared directory.
• Please, give us more infos, what file-type, associated with ... ? etc. (the crystal-bowls became unobtainable ! )

   K R, to be continued,

I've corrected the path statement in associations - the spaces had been removed somehow - but now when I double click on the file (A Quicktime movie MOV file) my default media player starts up and starts playing one of the MP3's in my music collection which is located in a completely different directory.

Weird!!

I'm now doing a complete and thorough virus scan of the entire drive.

Just reinstall QuickTime so that it restores the associations.
I switched to Linux, bye and thanks for all the fish!

I don't have QuickTime, but I've manually fixed the association parameters anyway thanks, so it works again now.

I use Media Player Classic in conjunction with the QuickTime Alternative codecs. Anything to avoid having that horrible QuickTime Player installed on my computer. There is also a Real Media Alternative as well, so you can avoid Real Player as well if you want. With the two, there is nothing you can't play in Media Player Classic, which is how I like it.

Media Player Classic
A great all-in-one player based on the Media Player 6.4. Supports most formats if you have the codecs installed like DivX, XviD, AVI, MOV, MPEG1/2, RM. Built-in MPEG2/SVCD/DVD codec. It also supports SVCD/CVD selectable subtitles.

Code: Select all

http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=82303&package_id=84358
Real Alternative
Real Alternative will allow you to play RealMedia files. This way you can play RealMedia files without having to install RealPlayer, RealOne Player. Works good with Media Player Classic(included).

Code: Select all

QuickTime Alternative
With this package you will be able to play QuickTime movies without having to install the offical QuickTime player. Works good with Media Player Classic(included).

Code: Select all

Thank you! I have Media Player Classic (loving it btw) but those alternatives sound great!
You know, that the developer of MPC is Hungarian? :-)

No I didn't know that. In fact you can't find much info on the author at all. It almost took a search of archeological dig proportions just to find an e-mail address for him when I wanted to ask a question about it.

Fortunately it isn't so hard with TC thanks to this forum :-)

Well, all info is on the MPC project website:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=82303

You have a forum to ask questions there and you have an email address, too, no big deal to find out at all.

It's sourceforge, so you have more information than you will ever need.

Are active links allowed in this forum? Most forums discourage the use of active links as a lot of sites do not appreciate hot-linking from outside.

Just wondering for future reference is all.

If a site doesn't want to be linked it should just go offline or tell its visitors that it doesn't wanna be linked for *whatever* reason, bandwidth problems for example. But in general WWW exists only because sites link to each other. There is absolutely no reason to ask if someone wants to be linked.

Well, I just saw your strange quotes above, I haven't recognized them as links. If I would have been able to recognize them on first sight, I wouldn't have added the same link again... ;)

The forums I know discourage linking to "illegal" sites, porn, warez, etc... only. To forbid "active" linking to "normal" sites sounds rather perverted to me.

Furthermore the forum software converts links to active links automatically. This function could be easily disabled if hot linking would not be allowed by the forum admin so you can safely presume that it is allowed here. ;)
