Quick search with Quick view panel
Hello,
When Quick view panel is active, if I type in order to jump to a file using Quick search, TC freezes for 1 or 2 minutes and then releases.
Please comment on this.

Please post your settings from Configuration > Operation > Quick Search. And describe step by step what you're doing, including whether you're using quick search (simple typing w/o pressing Ctrl+S beforehand) or quick filter (pressing Ctrl+S and typing afterwards), which types of files you're viewing, which plugins are installed, where the files are located (local disk, UNC path, network drive, USB drive etc). Also please post your OS version and bitness, TC version and bitness.
Or, in short: we need more information.

Here is more information:
Quick search setting: Letters - with search dialog
I am previewing and searching local files mainly pdf files.
Plugins:
InstallExplorer
Imagine
slister
OS version:
Windows 10 Education 64 bit Version 1511 Build 10586.218
TC Version:
8.52 64 bit (2015-08-26)
Please let me know if any other information is needed.
I can't confirm such issue on Win7 x64 with TC 8.52a x64 with slister 1.1.2 (and the included old Sumatra 1.9).
Might have something to do with slister plugin and/or your anti-virus software which may scan the files viewed and the slister executable. So you should try to temporarily disable your AV. You may also try to disable the plugins and/or change their order/priority via TC settings.

Actual TC x64 version is 8.52a (2015-09-17)
I have the actual SLister plugin with the SumatraPDF 3.1.1
and same search settings.
I see the problem using Quick-Search while Quick viewing PDF files.
Antivirus is not the problem (switched it off to test).
The problem is the Slister plugin together with SumatraPDF.
If I swich SLister off and let my ULister plugin display PDFs all is fine.

Here is more information and how I reproduce the issue (sorry I must mention this earlier):
1) Enable Quick view panel by pressing Ctrl+Q
2) View some pdf files
3) While you are still in the same folder, move (using arrow keys on your keyboard) to the top of the folder list where there is only an upward arrow and two dots (..).
4) Now the Quick view panel shows a summary of the folder
5) IF you start typing now, then TC freezes for long time. It will release by itself if you wait.
Here is a video I captured to show this issue:

Thanks
Now I can reproduce it. This only occurs if you use the quick filter (Ctrl+S) or enable the search dialog. It's reproducible with TC 32 and 64 bit. It might have something to do with the slister plugin, as Horst pointed out. I can't reproduce it with some pictures and Imagine plugin.

What's next? Do we need to do something?
Well, you could try other plugins to see if it's a general issue or plugin related. There're several ways/plugins to view PDF files in TC, slister is only one of them. You might even check if other file types using other plugins show the same issue (e.g. audio, video, pictures, text files and so on). That's all we could do, the rest is up to Ghisler.

I can't reproduce it here, but I don't use SLister. Does it stop when you remove SLister?

As I said above the problem is only when SLister (with SumatraPDF) pluginghisler(Author) wrote:I can't reproduce it here, but I don't use SLister. Does it stop when you remove SLister?
is configured for PDF.
If I use ULister plugin for PDF all is fine.
But Slister together with SumatraPDF is much better for viewing PDFs.
