Off topic: Forum software update

Post by *ghisler(Author) »

Today (May 4), I have updated the forum software PhpBB from 2.0.4 to 2.0.8. I have tried to re-install all modifications from the previous versions, like quick reply, fonts etc. Please let me know in this thread if anything doesn't work as it should. Thanks!

Hi,
Maybe add more languages to "BOARD LANGUAGE" (Spanish, of course)?

Eso ya ha sido discutido con anterioridad y mucho me temo que no parece que se vaya a hacer realidad.

Joaquin was refering about translating the phpbb labels to spanish, not to make a Spanish forum in this official board. As you say, this has been discussed before ;D

PS: I don't think you should write spanish in this board, no vaya a ser que nos echen de aqui :D

"From lost to the river, trunks".

If you want to see a phpbb forum in Spanish (and a lot of others languages), try:

http://purebasic.myforums.net/

I think that this is an option in the software. Or perhaps one more modern version.

And what's the use in having the labels in spanish when all the messages are in german, french or english ?

I see it in english. Maybe I should be registered to see it in spanish.
Anyway, if you want to see phpBB forums in spanish, here you can find a lot: http://www.elforo.de/

:) Hello Stefan!

• I'd this feeling, but the problem is that the subject is in an instance, and the replies in the other ! Maybe both instances might be merged ?
{ Off-topic : efficient step, it seems… :wink: }

Maybe we can get a killfile?
Hmm, there is a Killfile mod available on the phpBB forum, but I'm not sure how this would affect performance. It requires an additional database lookup for each displayed post.

:) Good evening (again!)
• Do you mean something like an user-filter ? I had this on a hardware-site which I were a member…
* That doesn't slow down the messages display too much; I guess it makes no visible diffference at speed with actual PCs, even with older like my usual one (P II @ 350 MHz - 320 MB SD-RAM).
* However - whether this feature works in the same way than the one I'm telling about - there is a big inconvenience : the quotes are not filtered!
* Hence, they appear for all users, even for those who have filtered the topic (?) and / or / its author... That decreases the advantages of such a feature…  :(

Claude

I think Christian refers to server-side performance ;)

The same for users

Post by *Clo »

:) Hi !
• It's the same! Whether the server doesn't suffer because such a feature adding, the display-speed at the user's isn't slowed down. Although, that needs a server powerful enough (the site I quote has a very powerful server…)
* Maybe a short test-period might be done ?

:mrgreen:  Kind regards,
Claude
