TC asks if file should be moved to bin although not possible

Post by *Lefteous »

Env.: Win 7, x64, TC 9 Beta 3

The following settings are set.
Windows:
Recycle bin settings: Show confirmation dialog _unchecked_
TC:
Win95Delete=0
VistaDelete=default
UseTrash=1

1. Navigate to Windows folder as restricted user
2. F8 on regedit.exe
3. TC asks to move the file to the trash.

Expected: As TC should now be capable of detecting wether a file can be moved to trash or not the normal delete confirmation dialog should be displayed.

I read about this change in the history file but I'm not sure if it refers to this report. Which settings are required to test the change?

For example, create a junction/reparse point from drive c: to a subfolder on d: . Enable recycle bin on c: but disable it on d:.

Now when you try to delete a file from that junction, e.g. delete c:\junctionparent\junction\file.ext which is located on d:, the file would be deleted directlry and TC will show a warning.

Btw, in the same situation, the Explorer will delete the file without warning!

What you describe sounds like something else.

I thought it's just about going into the Windows folder as restricted user and try to move a file to trash.

I will test what you described and report if necessary.

You asked about the above entry in the history.txt, and I have explained exactly what this is about: When a drive is reported as supporting the reycle bin, but TC cannot move the file to recycle bin for some reason (Windows reports that it will delete the file directly).

OK then it still doesn't behave as described. Wrong confirmation prompt as described in initial post.

???
I get prompt about deleting to recycle bin, and later warning that it cannot delete to it.

Yes, this is exactly what I wrote in the first post. I thought the check if moving to trash is possible is performed before the confirmation is displayed?
