[9.0b3] Total Commander crashed while idle

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

[9.0b3] Total Commander crashed while idle

Post by *umbra »

Hi,
my TC just crashed with error 0xc0000005 in module "ieframe.dll_unloaded". TC 9.0b3 x32; OS - Win 10 x64

TC was open in background, when it happened, and I wasn't using it. It hasn't happened before and the last change in TC's configuration was it's update to beta 3 a week ago.

This looks very similar to http://ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?t=44682, but I'm creating a new bug report, because the faulty module is different. Still, I guess there is a connection between these two reports.

DUMP: URL removed - it had been available for long enough - if you need it, let me know
I'm not sure, which tool is the best for collecting dumps from TC, so maybe you won't be able to open it.

Are you using auto updates? This can be related to update checking.
We are not so S.M.A.R.T. as we imagine...

There is no "AutoUpdateCheck" in my wincmd.ini, so auto updates should be disabled.

Total Commander itself does not use ieframe.dll. It could be either
1. The help function, which uses HTML help
or
2. A lister plugin.

I get that. But I wasn't using TC at that time, no lister/help windows were open and the crash happened only once. Have you found anything useful in wer/dmp files provided by me or flizebogen?

That doesn't matter - you may have used a lister plugin or the help before, then closed it, causing the ieframe.dll to be unloaded. Maybe there was some background process (e.g. an IE addon) still running, and when it finished, it crashed because ieframe.dll was already unloaded.
