?[TC 9.0 Beta 5] Tab color and icon not showing
After defining a new view mode with tab color and icon and setting the view mode active in the active tab neither the new color nor the icon is displayed. Only the tab name is shifted a little bit to the right like to make space for an icon (which is not displayed). The newly defined background colors of the view mode are applied correctly.

Not confirmed.
1. Do you use 32-bit or 64-bit TC?
2. Could you provide step by step instructions from a fresh wincmd.ini?

1. I use 64-bit TC.
In the follwing RMB stands for using right mouse button.
2.
RMB on active tab\ Cofigure view modes\ Add \ "Test1"
Tab color and icon: Select color e.g. green and icon e.g. HDD-Symbol
[Optional, to check if view mode is really active
Backround: White
Background2: Black
]
Apply
OK
RMB on active tab\ Check (Activate) "Test1"
As described in the post above the background colors change as defined in "Test1" but neither the new tab color nor the icon are displayed.

Strange. After I installed a new instance of TC 9.0 Beta 5 with new wincmd.ini in the program folder, I could reproduce the behavior with this instance.
However, when I started my original instance again, the appearance was different and for this instance the tab color and icon settings are working now.
Starting the newly installed instance again: Tab colors not showing.

Unfortunately I couldn't reproduce it so far, neither with my normal wincmd.ini, nor with a fresh one (I have to create a second tab with Ctrl+Tab first).

Can you give step by step instructions for fresh ini too, please? There are no tabs with fresh ini. It may also be important in which folders you start, because they may have a tab icon or not.

This is by design. Icons are applied in the order shown in Configuration - Options - Folder Tabs - ">>" button.

Dear Christian, You must change this behaviour and give at least the user icon priority to the top or allow users to change icon priority.
See the unwanted different icons or no icons picture below (red mode is user icon defined), sure this is bcause icon cache or smthing. Or just leave the user icons! do not play with unstable behavior of system icons.

I think paravion is right - Just because the user wants to customize an icon for one or more "Local drives" or one or more "Virtual folders" etc. - that doesn't mean that he wouldn't like to use the systems icons for other of theese.
With the current implementation that is not possible, so I agree that the "User defined icons" should have precedence.

Hmm, maybe a checkbox "prefer icons from view modes" or so would solve it? I don't want to make it too complex for the user...

Isn't it even simpler to move "User-defined icons (view modes)" to the top of the list - doesn't that accomplish just the same?

Only if the user always prefers the icon from the view mode...

So if I set an icon for the <default> view, it should take precendence over all the other icons like drive icons? I don't think that this is such a good idea. The same is true when the user defines a view mode switch rule with a very broad match, e.g. all paths with a drive letter (L).

But how would an option "prefer icons from view modes" change that?
