[TC9] Incorrect file/folder count in Network neighborhood

Post by *Dalai »

Prerequisites: WinXP or older OS

Steps to reproduce:
  1. Launch TC with a clean ini
  2. Open Network neighborhood
  3. Take a look at the status bar and memorize the number of files/folders
  4. Mark any file or folder like "Entire network"
  5. Look at the status bar again and notice that the number of files and/or folders is now different. I'm not talking about the number of marked elements but their total
  6. Press Ctrl+R to refresh the list and take a look at the status bar again, the file/dir count will revert to the original value.
Here's two screenshots:
No files marked
One folder marked

This bug can be reproduced in TC9 and TC8, maybe even older versions. Furthermore it can be reproduced without a clean wincmd.ini, and when some file-system plugins are installed.

This is fixed in TC9 beta6:
history.txt wrote:17.07.16 Fixed: Network Neighborhood, Windows XP or older: Total number of files/folders in footer was wrong (32/64)
TC just seems to count the elements again, so the numbers flicker for a split second. But I guess that we can live with that, better than having a wrong count :).

What happens is that the network neighborhood is loaded in a background thread, except for the plugins, which are already there. The first number you saw was from the plugins, the second is then from the complete list.
