[9.0ß6] Auto-update always tells there is an update

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

[9.0ß6] Auto-update always tells there is an update

Post by *Flint »

1. Start TC 9.0β6 with empty INI.
2. Help -> Check for updates now.
3. TC shows the dialog "TC is up to date. Enable automatic checks?", press Yes.
4. Alt+Tab from TC to another application and back to TC (I'm not sure, but it seems like this triggers the auto-update).
5. TC shows the message: "An update is available: 9.00 beta 6. Visit homepage to download?" despite the fact it is already β6 itself.

P.S. This is not a β6-specific regression, I noticed this in earlier betas but did not know how to reproduce then.

P.P.S. Sorry, wrong forum. Mods, please, move this into "TC9.0x bug reports".

Mal angenommen, du drückst Strg+F, wählst die FTP-Verbindung (mit gespeichertem Passwort), klickst aber nicht auf Verbinden, sondern fällst tot um.

Sorry, update checking is currently broken. It will work in the final release (and hopefully also with beta 7 when beta 8 comes out).

I got an automatic updata notification from beta7 to beta8 for the 32 bit version, but not from the 64 bit version, but maybe I was to hasty after I saw the new version announced on the forum until I tested in the 64 bit version.

If I delete:
AutoUpdateCheckDate=
AutoUpdateInformedVersion=
in wincmd.ini of my beta7, then I am prompted for the new beta8 when I start the 64bit beta7 - So I guess it is OK now :-)

Yes, that's how it should be: When you get auto update notification about beta 8, TC writes to ini that the user was already informed. After that, the user will no longer be informed about that version (I find it very annoying when a program informs me about the same update again and again and again).

But the user should decide when it is annoying. That's why I suggest this: http://ghisler.ch/board/viewtopic.php?p=314511#314511

Since it goes to the TC homepage only, you can use the "visit homepage" option instead, or "check for updates manually".

Sure, but that doesn't remind me - I would like to get the reminder until I decide not to get it anymore - not just one time.
