Crash when trying to open a truecrypt drive

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Crash when trying to open a truecrypt drive

Post by *DrTob »

I've a encrypted (truecrypt 7.1a) Drive. (-> External 500GB USB 3 HDD, complete encryptedwith AES 256.)

Mounted as Drive "O:", open/read/write with windows explorer without problems.

If I try to open the drive with tc (tested with b7 and b9, 64bit on Win10 Pro 64Bit) tc crashes with the windows message:

"Total Commander funktioniert nicht mehr" - "Es wird nach einer Lösung gesucht..."

edit: I've tested tc 8.52a (64bit) with the same result. Both 32Bit Versions (8.52a and 9b9) do not have the error and work fine.

I still use truecrypt 7.0a, but no problem here with b9 64bit.

I do not have this problem with Truecrypt, tried on Windows 10 and 8.1. Using Truecrypt 7.1a too. Maybe it's an incompatibility between Truecrypt and your virus scanner or other low level software.

I recommend that you uninstall Truecrypt, which has been discontinued, and install the inofficial successor Veracrypt instead. It can open Truecrypt containers without modification:
