Slow startup time

The behaviour described in the bug report is either by design, or would be far too complex/time-consuming to be changed

Slow startup time

Although I have TC running all day, I noticed the startup time has significantly increased. It takes some time (5 secs) until the splash screen shows up and another some seconds before the application window is displayed.

Some of the new features are the devices that are displayed in the drive list now. Maybe querying them during startup is causing the delays? Maybe they could only queried when the drive list is actually opened the first time?

TC version: x64, 9.0b6
System: i5, SSD

NOT confirmed, it's the same as always here for both 32-bit and 64-bit. Apparently TC is doing something on your system on startup. Or you have an overprotective virus scanner...

I have the same experience as philk, at least from TC 9.0 b8 x64.
Startup time for TC 9.0b10 x64 is well over a minute, whereas TC 8.52 starts in less than a second.

I'm connected to an AD that is rather big but I have only access to a small portion of it - 4 servers and approx. 20 other devices.

More items show up in the "Network neighborhood" listing in 9.0b10 x64 than in 8.52 so there most be some kinf of difference between the versions?

TC version: 9.0b10 x64
Windows 10 Pro
System: i7, SSD

Environment:
Notebook with Sata harddisk, no SSD, 4 GB of RAM, dualcore processor with hyperthreading, age: 3 years
Windows 7 SP1 EE 32-bit, member of an AD
Symantec Endpoint Protection
Total Commander 8.52a, 32-bit
Total Commander 9.0b10, 32-bit

Both Total Commander releases startup equally fast (below 2 seconds).
Note:
The saved tabs which are restored on startup point to local drives only.

After browsing the file servers and restarting the computer a couple of times the startup time is OK.

It doesn't seem to matter if the saved tabs show shares in the network or local disk.

I move the same computer between different networks, that may have an influence.

At the moment TC9 b10 works fine!

I think that you can blame Norton: It uses a system called "reputation": Programs which run on many computers with Norton are trusted more than programs which run on just a few computers. The beta version is used much less than the release version, so it's thoroughly analyzed on each start. With each new beta, this begins again.
