Sorry, whatever I would do, people would just complain. Therefore I will stay with the old icons and include the new as an option only.

I guess the question was more like 'is there a new iteration'? I also would really like to see a new iteration of the new icons. Many icons are good but some important icons need polishing.

There is always room for improvement but that doesn't mean people are just complaining. Just compare the first iteration with the current and look at the difference!whatever I would do, people would just complain.
I would suggest to start a poll about that when you consider the new icon library as final.I will stay with the old icons and include the new as an option only.

I have included the new library now as a secondary library. Some of the icon outlines have been made stronger for a better contrast than the original G collection icons.
Since the library can now be used easily by everyone, I'm open to suggestions for further improvements.

Here is my feedback on the icon library contained in TC 9 RC 1.
This is the first version where I would say the contrast problem is solved comprehensively. The outlines are discreet but sufficient. Very nice work!
I found some minor problems which you might want to take a look at.
Some icons have different colorings in their overlays in some sizes. I found the following:
Icon #25: The > icon is blue instead of black in 24px.
Icon #26: The question mark icon has a much brighter red color in 16px.
Icon #35: The = icon has a much brighter green color in 32px.
Icon #65: The arrow icon has a much darker green color in 16px.
Icon #65: The link icon has a much darker blue bg color in 16px.
Icon #76: The upper dir icons has a much darker blue bg color in 16px.
Icon #79: The '2' bg icon in separate tree view icon is darker in 16px.
Icon #80: The exclamation mark icon has a darker bg color in 16px.
Icon #81: The refresh icon has a darker color in 16px.
I guess there are a few more that I missed.
At least one embedded icon overlay is too large. I would suggest to scale it down slightly.
Icon #21: The hammer is too large at least in 32px.
There are a few icons where downscaling could be improved for some sizes:
Icon #63, #64: The number of lines should be somewhere between those in 32px and 16px for the 24px icon. Currently it's the same as in 32px which is too much and looks blurry.
Suggestions:
Here is a suggestion for icon #75 - background transfer manager. I'm using the queue icon from iconexperience (#533):

Some more remarks:
- Most importantly: Please integrate large sizes in the default setup. Currently there are not even 48 icons included.
- A simplified search icon without the 'ABC' (means text search) would be better.
- Icon #45 (also applies to #74) still looks like a sun. What about this: http://lefteous.totalcmd.net/tc/ideas/select_all.png

Improving the icons... whoa, this is such an improvement that I couldn't live withoutghisler(Author) wrote: For those who have constructive suggestions for improving the icons, please let me know! We have already implemented some of the suggestions like the new selection icons.

What about icons PLACEMENT improvements like the "dynamic spacer" I have suggested no less than... oh my gosh... five years ago??

THAT would be a really nice improvement... so appreciated that I would surely PAY for a license renewal only for this feature.

Thanks for the list! Sorry, I found out that the dll I included contains some outdated icons - only the dll with 48x48 icons is up to date. We will fix the remaining problems you reported and include the new dll in the next beta.

Indeed, the RC version icons look good. I start to like the new icons, but from my experience the overall visual impression of TC is defined mostly by the file list font and it's color (background/foreground), so not that much impact anyway IMO.
One question, though: Are there plans to implement optimized low-color versions? On 8-bit/256 color environments (like on old Win9x machines) the new icons look really bad compared to the old ones.

Thanks!
No, low-color versions are not planned. Just use the old icons in this case.
